Last stretch from town centre to Tilsley park is a bit bleak, especially past the traffic on Dunmore road. Maybe could have a bit more to cheer the runners on.

Not the quickest course but very well planned and controlled and as good as being traffic free.

Pre event communications and race booklet very thorough- knew what to expect -where to park car and walk to event . Arrived volunteers everywhere ! Welcoming lots of signs great facilities even a shelter to relax pre race . Started on time .Brilliant lots of announcements so no stress re start . Starts on wide road plenty of space to set off at chosen pace .
Marshall’s were brilliant
Some tight passages joining roads but so many Marshall’s giving really good instructions
Local event .residents out in force .Extra candy stops with children offering sweets and cheering us on .
Lots of water stations - well organised - no chaos . I stop and drink once or twice a little more water in cup would have been good but easily got second cup
Even in last miles roads so well marshalled -by then it was hard to think-but didn’t have to as Marshall’s were there and kept us safe stopping traffic .

A great event and well done everyone who made it possible

A smaller event but I am older and it reminded me of the local races I grew up with .

This was my first ever race & marathon and I couldn’t have asked for a more friendly event. The event was very well organised and all the volunteers were super enthusiastic and encouraging throughout. The course is mostly flat and goes through some lovely scenery. I would definitely recommend The Abingdon Marathon to everyone including beginners. A huge thank you to everyone involved.

There were not enough toilets at the start. I would recommend more toilets and maybe in a couple of groupings rather than just one.

It was odd on the course to have a food station without any water there as well.

It’s a shame there’s no transfer option in the booking if someone is injured just before the race.

But doing this race for the first time I was really impressed and I will do it again I think.

The Marshalls were brilliant

I think the narrow path with a lot of roots at the start of the race could be avoided.

Paper cups are not good for runners as you have to stop to get a proper drink

Thoroughly recommend. Only area for improvement I’d suggest is to really press home to people not to start at the front if they are not a faster runner. Although I was well positioned at the start there were too many people ahead of me who shouldn’t have been. This included a number of more senior Masters runners. This meant I got off to a poor, slower start with too much weaving on the track and coming out of the park. Otherwise, a great race. Marshals were excellent.

Very well organised. Wonderful volunteers. Good to have toilets on route and there were plenty of water/feed stations. A really well planned out event with good communication in the lead up.

There were so many marshalls Which is incredible

I loved it, really appreciate the lack of tatt, and no 'goodie bag' to throw away. Really nice design on the medal and Buff thing. Paper cups, well organised. Nice job!

A fast, very flat course with some lovely scenery. Lots of encouraging marshals on course & at the aid stations.

I can’t comment on anything. My mum was taken into to hospital on the Saturday so I didn’t compete. So it wouldn’t be fair to give a review
