Catering for supporters

As with previous race in 2023, staff inside Tilsley Park were too officious before race start - having queued to use the toilet, I left the building and needed a gulp of water to take a tablet before the race. There was a lot of umming and ahhing about allowing me back in and in the end the individual walked away without responding to me.
Massage set-up post-race was much better in 2023 with more masseurs/masseuses available - only 2 this year. Signs to the massage were not clear enough and confusing as some thought women's changing room was waiting space for massage and vice versa.
Marshals and general support great. Medal looked good but on closer inspection the river graphic sticker/transfer was chipped away in two places - not great for a brand-new issued medal.
My supporters said they would have appreciated something to keep them occupied before the race in Tilsley Park and towards end of the marathon - along with somewhere to keep warm and dry.

I would like to thank all the volunteers for the wonderful and encouraging words as I ran / walked around the event. It truly, helped get me round and complete my first marathon!! Thank you so much.

I initially felt a little intimidated but this quickly evaporated - there was such a varying level from elites to beginners and all were supported and championed. I would thoroughly recommend this event and I would love to do it again. I came on my own and it was a very friendly atmosphere.

Organisation was great - the only issue I had was that I had been told there was a bus back to the Hilton hotel. But facilities were great and as a female I felt very welcome and looked after.

Well organised, great flat and fast course. Very friendly staff. Can't fault it at all.

My only complaint is that, at 26.2 miles, t was a bit too far for me!

The Abingdon Marathon 2025 was my first attempt at a full marathon. Although I have taken part in about a dozen half marathons, I was a bit anxious about how running a full marathon would feel. That anxiety was completely erased by the incredible support I received from the volunteers marshalling along the route. I really enjoyed the brief interactions with them, which made the event feel like an extended parkrun. If I have the chance to take part in the Abingdon Marathon again in the future, I will definitely do so.

I loved this event, exceptionally well marshalled with plenty of drinks stations and loos on route.

Friendly marshals made this a great event. Flat course mainly through picturesque villages and countryside with a couple of loops through an industrial estate, very welcoming only negative was the really long queue for the toilets before the start. Will take part again

Lovely cup of tea at the finish. Nice start and finish area, but the course is too twisty and on varied terrain for fast times

The marshals were just fantastic and plenty of water stations and feed station.

Mine and my daughter’s first marathon and we ran it together! What an amazing first marathon to do. The organisation was fantastic, the Marshalls were simply the best and the support on route was uplifting, people shouting your name which really helps!
