I love the Abingdon marathon!
I have run the Abingdon marathon six times and it never disappoints. Fast, flat route with plenty of support and superb organisation.

My first ever marathon i felt fully supported and loved the energy of all the Marshal's!
Joel Mitchell
Loved it, thank you!
Dan Afshar
Real authentic old school event (in a good way), with the focus always on the runner.
Marshals and water stations amazing in both numbers and helpfulness.
Everything from arrival to departure was incredibly slick, clearly demonstrating that runners are behind this event, with all the tiny details taken care off.
Mile markers accurate to the inch.
Pacers would be useful with so many targeting specific times.
Possibly a bit intimidating for beginners with so many serious club runners and overall high standard of the field.
Highly recommended. It was my 10th Abingdon marathon and will be back!

Great event, very well organised and marshalled.
Paper cups are really hard to drink from when running. Are those seaweed packets available, or are they prohibitively expensive?
Rosie Thompson
Best friendly well organised marathon ever!
I cannot praise Abingdon highly enough. The organisation was spot on. Plenty of toilets at the start and on the course, and had feminine hygiene products available, not seen any other races do this so massive plus from me! Marshalls everywhere and cheerful and encouraging. Water stations regularly and predictably so. Lovely medal. Well supported. Superb day out, thank you Abingdon!
Angie Conti
A fun and friendly race.
All is great. Special thanks to the marshalls for their unwavering support throughout. Very good organization on the day and excellent communication pre race, including clear and detailed info. And a lovely route to top it! (I especially lived running through Abingdon town square)
The one thong i really disliked was the water in cups. While i understand, appreciate and subscribe to the desire to be eco friendly, i find drinking from cups while running so difficult. As the miles piled on it was very difficult to stop as the legs started to ache so i had to go without water.
Steve Davies
Very well organised with polite and and helpful marshals.
MICHAEL TWOMEY
Superbly well organised and huge number of water stations all manned by hyper-efficient and friendly people.
Good race for speedy runners
Initial organisation at the start was somewhat disconcerting. Having joined a long toilet I was then faced with being asked to join the baggage queue before baggage closed. Why close baggage drop that does relocate? Runners shouldn’t be asked to decide between toilet or bag drop! We need both! I travel 60 miles to the start so the suggestion that I should leave earlier to use both was not met well.
The route was not as inspiring as I thought. The first lap was well supported but on the second lap I found myself running alone, which I’m not comfortable with.
Lots of happy Marshalls which was great although one or two perhaps needed to pay more attention. Stirling job staying so chirpy in the rain. Ginger isotonic was delicious
End of the race was somewhat chaotic being told to go up & down steps unnecessarily was not funny having just run 26 miles! Said same Marshall also forgot to give me my buff.
Overall the event was well organised but probably better suited to faster runners

This is a great marathon for Beginners to Elite
The marshaling is one of the best I've seen in any marathon. There is some great support around route. The only thing I would advise if possible is to get the council to repair some of the pavements as a lot of runners were having to move onto the road
Ruth Stanbridge
Superbly organised event, with fantastic Marshalls, plenty of sites to look at to keep it interesting and great toilet and shower facilities on site
Yahya Pandor
A well organised and fun race!
Sam Clarkstone
Better than London!
Supporters were great, not overwhelming like london. Beautiful scenery. Water stations not over crowded. The perfect number of runners on the course so no elbows or being tripped up. Loved it, would recommend it.
Gemma Barker
Amazing event, thank you!
Really friendly, well organised event. My first marathon and I found the experience fantastic... huge thank you to the marshalls for their help and support!

Low key, and extremely well organised marathon that thankfully avoids all the unnecessary paraphernalia of others.
Loved the compact start /finish area. Marshals were faultless. And cheery. Thank you.
